Best milk tea ratios at home
Shops brew tea concentrate for a reason: milk and ice dilute fast. Start strong, adjust sweet separately, and write down what works on your stove.
Black milk tea baseline
Aim for 1 part concentrate to 1 part milk before ice. Concentrate means double-strength brew: two bags in 120 ml water, or two tablespoons loose leaf steeped 6 minutes.
- 50-70% sweetness versus shop if using bottled syrup
- Shake 15 seconds for foam
Oolong and matcha
Oolong can take slightly more milk; matcha needs less milk and more careful shaking so powder does not clump. Sift matcha into a little warm water first, then ice and milk.
Starter kit pick: First Pour
Pearls, syrup, and a straw that can lift them. Use any strong tea bags you already own and a mason jar to shake.
